Milan Stakic founded the club in 1949 and was the first President of the club. The club has made a series of remarkable results - 20 times were National champions, the club spawned its most famous and most awarded athlete - Matija Ljubek. The facilities of the club include a gym and indoor rowing room in Kayak Club, as well as the area of the Coast of M. Ljubek. The club has 98 members.

A short overview of successful athletes

Matija Ljubek achieved a first great international success - winning the bronze medal at the World Championships in 1975 in Belgrade, and is now known as a sports legend and the most successful athlete in the history of our country. At the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976 Matija won the gold medal in the 1,000 meters and bronze in the 500 m in the Canoe Single. At the World Championship 1978 he achieved a golden success in the 100m, and bronze in the 10,000 meters. His success continues with silver medal, won in 1981 at the world championships in Notingham, while from 1982 performs canoe double with Mirko Nišovic and in the world championship wins gold in the 500 m and silver in the 1,000 meters. I SUCCESS continues next year in Tampere, Finland, when they won gold in the 1,000 meters I bronze in the 500 m. at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles new gold at 1,000 m His success maintained next year in Tampere, Finland, when he won gold in the 1,000 meters and bronze in the 500 m. A member of the club in 1978. was also Milan Janic, who won the world championship gold medal in the 10,000 meters and silver in the 1,000 meters.

A number of the world's great results continued with John Šabjan winning the bronze medal in the Canoe Single 100 m and silver in the 10,000 meters at the world championships in 1986 Mentreal. At the World Championships in Duisburgh 1987. Šabjan won the gold medal in the Canoe Single to 10,000 m. 

Continuous series of great  world's most important awards was provided by Drazen Funtak and Emanuel Horvatiček. Funtak won a bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in 1993, in the CL 500 m, while Horvatiček won, together with Nikica Ljubek, a silver medal in 1997 at the Junior World Championships in C2 at 1,000m.
